JVC’s new Everio range includes a camcorder we think is right on the money for price-performance ratio. Based on a newly-developed CMOS sensor, the Everio GZ-HD30 packs an 80GB HD allowing you to record up to 33 hours of Full HD (1920 x 1080) in either AVCHD (Blu-ray friendly) or MPEG-2 (edit friendly) formats - and a microSDHC port that supports cards up to 8GB - so you’ll never run out of space at that vital moment.

HDMI outputs for easy connectivity with HDTVs are fairly common in new camcorders, but JVC is promising that the HDMI output on the GZ-HD30 will output 1080p at 60 frames per second with no judder or moiré patterns.

Other features of note include:

  • 0.6 second power-on
  • 0.08 second record trigger delay
  • Manual focus settings
  • In-camera file editing
  • Smallest 80GB camcorder ever
  • 10x Konica Minolta HD optical zoom lens
  • Can be connected to an optional Everio Share Station via USB to burn 12cm AVCHD or MPEG-2 discs - allowing you to backup selected scenes in any order you want
  • MPEG-2 plug-in adds compatibility with iMovie HD 6 and Final Cut Pro 5 or 6

The Everio GZ-HD30 will be available for $999.95 in August.
